Irina: Knowledge of English as a criterion in search of your woman

English speaking Ukrainian women I have already written about this in some of my previous publications, and I still feel this way: if your Ukrainian woman knows English at least at the intermediate level, you have much better chances for marriage with her than if she does not know English at all. The reasons to this are very clear to me:
First, communication is more effective with a woman who speaks your language than with the one who does not. Through verbal communication, you will get to know a lot about each other very soon.
Second, if a woman has given attention and effort to learning your language before she met you, it means she has been preparing herself to use your language and to adjust to your culture. It will be easier for her to understand your likes, interests, needs and lifestyle n general.
Third, no language can be separated from it's culture. While learning your language, she'll step by step adjust to your culture. This will help her adjust to your personality, your manners and your habits. This will simplify her own adjustments to your culture when she comes to your country.
In the end, her mind will be open to accepting a different culture, which is a critical thing, too. Women who are not limited to living within traditional style of their own country, have a broader vision of family life in general. Many common decisions will be much easier to pass, once she accepts your culture.
So, why not consider trying to select between the woomen who know your language, at least at simple conversational level?...

I would never dare to move to a new country with a man who I barely know. How can I be sure about anything if I hardly know him, his family, and especially if I don't speak his language. How do these women work? How can they socialize? I think it's insane.

I can't understand how a woman may dare to move to a new country with a man she barely knows. More than this, she does not speak his language, how is she going to live there? What is she going to do? How will she work? I would never take a step like this, it's insane.

I am looking for a Russian wife, too. I'd like her to speak English, but this is not important. If she wants to be with me, she'll learn it with time. I know a bit of Russian, and I can communicate well with with women who don't speak English.

I prefer meeting women who at least has some basic knowledge of English or eager to learn it. If she seriously considers marriage with a foreigner, then definitely she will speak some English.

I found my wife in Ukraine. She could hardly speak English when we met. It took her very long time and a tremendous effort to learn English with a teacher while she was waiting for her fiance visa. I don' blame he teacher though, the teacher was great, simply my wife did not concentrate on learning until she arrived to the US and realized what it means not to know the language. It was her very first time abroad in a new culture. Now, we have lived together for years and she speaks English well. But honestly, I'd prefer that she had known it from the very beginning. We had to go through tough moments quite a few times while she was learning to speak. :-)

Among all the women I met in Ukraine last time only 2 or 3 could speak English a little. I had an experience of communicating with a woman face to face without interpreter once and her English was limited to just a few words. But we had a great time together. I think the language won't be an obstacle if we are compatible in everything else.
